More than 40,000 women prepare to be part of Women’s Health Week
August 6, 2017

Being staged from 4th to 8th September, Women’s Health Week 2017 is setting out to support women in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Organised by Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, more than 1,000 events will be held across Australia over its five days women will be able to learn more about their health and talk about issues they might not usually discuss.

Free events, articles, videos, podcasts, recipes, tools and much more will be supported by a range of experts to help make women’s health a priority.

Content from Women’s Health Week has been informed by the results of Australia’s largest survey of women’s health. This year, more than 10,000 women responded to the Jean Hailes survey, offering insights into topics such as mental health and anxiety, physical activity, and sleep and fatigue.

The results of this survey will be announced at a media launch on Sunday 27th August.

More than 40,000 women have already signed up for Women’s Health Week events in every state and territory and are due to take part in events in locations from Kimberley in Western Australia to Coober Pedy in South Australia, Moranbah in Queensland and Lawitta in Tasmania

Jean Hailes Executive Director Janet Michelmore explains “Women’s Health Week is a fantastic opportunity for women around Australia to take a little bit of time out for themselves.

“They can get together with friends and share a cooking class or join a bike ride - it’s whatever they want to make of it. Women’s Health Week is about setting aside some time in our busy lives to think or talk about health issues and possibly think about ways you can make a few positive changes.

“By investing more time in ourselves, we’re better able to look after the ones we love and care about.”

Supported by funding from the Australian Government, Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to improving women’s knowledge and understanding of complex health issues.
