read moreAfter a decade of national Ticketing Professionals Conferences, event owner the Northern Australian Regional Performing Arts Centres Association (NARPACA) is to scale back the 2015 event “to its origins” by once again becoming a regional event held exclusively throughout Queensland.
Affected by a loss of funding from the Queensland Government and the death of conference organiser Tim Roberts in early April, NARPACA explained in a statement that “the Ticketing Professionals Conference will ... once again become a regional event held exclusively throughout Queensland in February of each year.
“The event will be rebranded BOMnet - Box Office and Marketing Network - QLD/NT and will be organised by a committee made up of Box Office and Marketing staff from the NARPACA membership.
“This realignment from a national to a state based focus comes as a result of NARPACA facing unprecedented changes over the last 12 months.“
NARPACA President Destry Puia added "over the last 12 months NARPACA has faced numerous challenges resulting from a change in political priorities.
“The most dramatic being a discontinuation of NARPACA organisational funding from the Queensland Government in June 2013. Our members are also finding it increasingly difficult to attend interstate based events as local Councils clamp down on travel requests”.
“In response to this NARPACA has had to rationalise its resources in order to remain financially sustainable whilst continuing to deliver valued services to our members.
“This has included a review of the industry based conferences that NARPACA delivers including the NARPACA Ticketing Professionals Conference."
Puia also paid homage and respect Tim Roberts, concluding "earlier this year NARPACA had to come to terms with losing a great colleague and friend.
“The success of the NARPACA Ticketing Professionals Conference is directly attributed to the leadership and strategic direction of Tim Roberts who, along with the national organising committee, highlighted the important role the box office plays in all facets of the performing arts.
“I thank Tim and the committee for their incredible support over a great many years and I look forward to supporting BOMnet QLD/NT in this next exciting chapter."
BOMnet QLD/NT will take place over two days in February 2015 with further details to be announced later in the year.

NARPACA currently has more than 35 members servicing communities that stretch from the Gold Coast in the South to Mount Isa in the West, Townsville and Cairns in the North to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
