Pennant Hills Golf Club, one of the oldest in Sydney, has opened a new $7 million clubhouse offering enhanced facilities for members and visitors.

After four years of planning and construction, the 96-year-old venue has been revitalised, with General Manager Barnaby Sumner telling the Hornsby Advocate “the renovation was certainly needed.

“Our club is approaching its centenary and has evolved over this time from a small wooden house into what we offer today- which is something pretty special.

“The work has retained some key original features while adopting a more modern feel throughout the clubhouse.”

Among the key features of the renovation are a new members entrance; a new meeting area; new men’s and women’s locker rooms; new terraces for the function room and updated members bar and barbecue facilities.

Sumner advised “the reaction to the changes have been overwhelmingly positive.

“We’ve seen a significant up-tick in member engagement and the feedback on the style and new configuration has been welcomed by all involved.

“It has certainly lived up to the original vision which was to create an environment where members and the community could better coexist.”

As Pennant Hills Golf Club approaches its centenary in 2023, Sumner said the new clubhouse is just the first step in ensuring the club is “ready for the next 100 years.”

He added “next up we are looking at a course master plan. We are in the very early stages but it is exciting to see already the level of interest both home and abroad in who may help bring this vision to fruition.

“The future has never looked brighter for Pennant Hills Golf Club.”
