New Coronavirus outbreaks force Hong Kong Disneyland into new closure

New Coronavirus outbreaks force Hong Kong Disneyland into new closure
July 16, 2020

Less than a month after its reopening, Hong Kong Disneyland is closing its gates again following a new Coronavirus outbreak in the Administrative Region.

The theme park, which was originally closed at the end of January as the pandemic spread across Asia, reopened on 18th June as Hong Kong's brought the Coronavirus outbreak under control.

However, as social distancing measures are reimposed in Hong Kong the attraction closed again as of yesterday.

In a statement the operators advised "as required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from 15 July."

With Disney having closed all of its theme parks because of the Coronavirus, Hong Kong Disneyland was the second Disney park to reopen, following Shanghai Disneyland in May.

Since then Tokyo Disneyland in Japan has reopened along with all other Disney parks.

A surge in new infections in Hong Kong has forced authorities to bring back measures to contain the new outbreak. These include the suspension of large social gatherings, dining-in at restaurants and going to the gym.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's hotels are remaining open with adjusted services and with enhanced health and safety measures in place.
