read moreSydney Olympic Park is being reignited as a major events and entertainment precinct following the launch of a dynamic new festival - Park Sounds - which celebrates music, art, sport, culture and food.
The Festival which is on until 28th May, is hosting more than 96 events, featuring 50 music gigs, and employing more than 90 artists in 10 venues over 10 huge weeks.
A total of more than $500,000 has been allocated by Investment NSW, Multicultural NSW and Create NSW, supporting artists to play in the streets and venues of Sydney Olympic Park, as well as its public spaces.
The Festival includes a new Light Market, a musical line-up featuring Australian talent including big name artists, a program of emerging musicians, plus street food in outdoor locations, bars and restaurants open seven days a week, with even a children’s rave.
The sporting season of football, AFL and NRL, will see pre- and post-game activity situated inside and around the venues, parks, bars and restaurants, plus new precincts that haven't been previously activated.
There will also be free and ticketed arts and cultural and events including Heaps Gay, Astral People and Pub Choir.
Sydney Olympic Park Chief Executive, Anita Mitchell advises “Park Sounds will create opportunities for the creative sector so heavily affected by COVID-19 lockdowns.
“Performers and live entertainment were amongst the first to be shut down when the pandemic struck and are still yet to reach a level of normality, so Park Sounds will give them a much needed boost.”
