A new performing arts venue - The Lounge - has opened at The Concourse Performing Arts Centre, in the northern Sydney suburb of Chatswood and will be home to a diverse range of live performance spanning across music, theatre, cabaret, comedy, drama and more. 

Owned by Willoughby City Council, The Lounge is funded and operated by Century Venues ¬ – one of Australia’s leading entertainment businesses with over 30 years of experience specialising in venue management, live events, touring and artist representation.

The multi-purpose, flexible live performance venue includes 300-seat capacity in cabaret style and state-of-the-art facilities including high-end lighting, audio and visual technology.

Greg Khoury, Executive Director at Century Venues, said live venue infrastructure remains the most critical issue facing the cultural sector, and mid-range theatres and live venues are in very short supply.

Khoury advised “The Lounge will fill an important gap in the venue pathway between small and larger venues and theatres. Importantly, The Lounge is affordable and un-curated, making it accessible to a variety of producers and presenters – not just resident companies.

“The Lounge will also help to strengthen Chatswood’s vibrant arts scene and enhance the venue’s reach with new audiences. Century Venues is committed to continuing to invest in Sydney’s arts and culture sector and we’re thrilled to unveil this new space for the benefit of the community and artists alike.”

Upcoming performances at The Lounge include veteran blues musician Eric Bibb (USA) on 24th May, alternate rock band Eskimo Joe on 26th May, musician Ben Lee on 29th June, The Divine Miss Bette with music and comedy star Catherine Alcorn on 1st June, and blues musician Ash Grunwald on 23rd August.

Century Venues operates and manages the Enmore Theatre, Metro Theatre, Comedy Store, Factory Theatre, The Concourse, Manning Bar and the Victoria Theatre, Newcastle.
