read moreFormer ANZ Stadium Board Chair Christine McLoughlin is to head a new Venues NSW Board and Executive Team responsible for the delivery of new sporting and major event infrastructure and attracting economy-boosting events to NSW.
Announced today, the new Venues NSW Board consolidates the Stadium Australia Group and the Venues NSW boards and reflects extensive corporate, sports and major events experience.
Announcing the new arrangements, NSW Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres "the NSW Government is getting on with the job of delivering the $1.6 billion stadia package, the biggest investment in sport and major event infrastructure in NSW since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
"The newly streamlined Venues NSW organisation now oversees ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park, Western Sydney Stadium at Parramatta, McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, WIN Stadium in Wollongong, the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.”
The Board comprises:
• Chair - Christine McLoughlin, who brings extensive experience from a career with top ASX listed companies including Suncorp, Spark Infrastructure, NIB and Whitehaven Coal. She was formerly Chairman of the ANZ Stadium Board.
• John Quayle, former NRL and Olympic administrator and previous Venues NSW Chairman.
• Phil Kearns, former Wallaby.
• Lesley Grant, Chief Executive, Qantas Loyalty.
• Sally Loane, Financial Services Council Chief Executive and NSW Waratahs Board Member.
• Noel Cornish, Illawarra-based former Blue Scope Steel Chief Executive and Snowy Hydro Chairman.
• Glenn Turner, Chair of the former Hunter Region Sporting Venues Authority and former Chairman of the Hunter Medical Research Institute.
• Danny Bhandari, Chief Executive of Tibra Capital, inaugural Chairman of the Sydney Thunder Advisory Board.
• Ian Hammond, former Partner PwC, Non-Executive Director of Perpetual, Citi, and a former Director of ANZ Stadium.
McLoughlin said Venues NSW’s mission will be to deliver the best experience for customers at sporting venues and value for money for the NSW Government.
She explained "the stadia investment program takes a network approach providing a mix of contemporary venues of varying sizes to give us options to bid for and host a wider range of events.
“We will be working closely with venue management teams, sporting codes, clubs and communities to further improve the game-day experience and to look for ways of improving the financial performance of the venues."
