read moreA-League club the Newcastle Jets have announced the appointment of Tain Drinkwater as Chief Executive.
Born and raised in Lake Macquarie before starting her early career in the Hunter Valley, Drinkwater will formally commence in her new role as 1st May.
Drinkwater brings extensive experience across elite sport and mining resource sectors, having served as Chief Executive for Netball New South Wales which included the Swifts and Giants, and as NRLW Chief Executive for the Brisbane Broncos.
Most recently Drinkwater held the position of Executive General Manager – Performance and Pathways with the National Rugby League, establishing the NRLW competition, introducing the Las Vegas 9s tournament and talent combine.
Maurice Bisetto, Executive Director of Jets owners Maverick Sports Partners, advised the club is "thrilled" to welcome Drinkwater to the role.
He cited her over 20 years of experience in senior management and executive roles, noting that she "bring "a wealth of leadership expertise and strategic vision to the Newcastle Jets.
"Her connection to the community, proven track record of driving innovation, fostering growth, and navigating complex business decisions through her leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow the Newcastle Jets to new heights."
Looking forward to her new role, Drinkwater (pictured) stated “I am excited to return to Newcastle and lead the Newcastle Jets.
"The Club has a deep history across Newcastle and the Hunter, and we want to be a football Club that is the pride of our region.
