A favourite summertime spot for families in North Brisbane, the Newmarket Pool is set to undergo a radical transformation with a ocean-themed Splashpad/water spray ground being installed by Vortex Aquatic Playgrounds and a pirate ship playground being installed by iPlaygrounds.

The Vortex Splashpad will increase the facility's existing Olympic-sized swimming pool, and learn to swim classes with a family-friendly zero-depth water play area. Designed in three age-appropriate areas the Splashpad offers water experiences for all age groups.

For parents, one of the most important aspects of the new Splashpad that there is no concern about the potential for drowning compared to traditional wading pools. The water is sprayed then drains away instead of pooling up on the ground.

In addition, with the Splashpad being on one level, visitors with decreased mobility such as confined to a wheelchair or other physical/mental challenges, can also enjoy the fun. Research from America has shown that the various gentle effects of water (bubbling, misting, jets and shear waterwalls) can provide a fun, soothing and calming environment for visitors with disabilities, whilst also encouraging interaction with other visitors.

The Vortex Splashpad is the perfect entertainment hub for children and adults offering multi-generational fun and excitement in a safe and all inclusive environment.

Along with the Splashpad, the re-development of the facility in Brisbane's Inner Northern Suburbs also includes a magnificent pirate ship-themed playground by iPlaygrounds. Known as the Jolly Voyager, this nautical-themed playground features a Sea Serpent Slide, Walk the Plank', Nautical Slither Slides, Stern & Bow Climbers, drum cannons, themed play panels, the "Ship's wheel" and more.

Adding to the playground's incredible features is the fact that its design is all inclusive. Featuring transfer station and ground-level activities, it allows children of all abilities to confidently play with others.
