read moreVictoria’s Nillumbik Shire Council has officially launched recent lighting upgrades at local ovals allowing more Nillumbik sporting clubs to extend their oval use for training in the early mornings and evenings.
The upgrades will allow for additional teams and membership growth and are anticipated to help with the retention of players and members through the winter season, as well as improve safety with better visibility.
Councillor Frances Eyre acknowledged the clubs’ volunteers sharing “Thank you for your hard work and persistence to continually improve our amazing clubs and facilities for our sports-loving community.”
The lighting upgrades have been funded as part of the $1,479,040 Victorian Government 2020 Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program to upgrade sports lighting, with Council contributing $150,000 to this project at five sporting facilities including:
Nillumbik Councillors Frances Eyre and Natalie Duffy joined Eltham MP Vicki Ward and the presidents of the Eltham Rugby Union Club, Lower Eltham Cricket Club and Eltham Lacrosse Club for the official launch of the upgrades.
