read moreIn a move aimed at increasing attendances, the four NRL clubs that share Sydney’s ANZ Stadium have combined up to cut ticket prices and the cost of food at the venue.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Wests Tigers and Parramatta Eels have agreed to a series of initiatives as part of a ‘fans first’ program at the 83,000-seat stadium.
The four Clubs which use ANZ Stadium as a home ground - South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers – will offer tickets for $20 and allow children under 12 to enter for free during the NRL season, which starts on the weekend of 8th to 11th March.
Tickets will also cover the cost of train travel to matches, with two Direct Trains to and from Sydney’s Olympic Park to run for every match against a Sydney-based opponent.
In addition, members at the Rabbitohs, Bulldogs, Eels and Tigers will be entitled to free entry at all ANZ Stadium fixtures in which their club is competing as part of their 2018 membership package. Club members will also be offered reciprocal membership rights when their team is the designated away side. The four clubs have also strived to better promote derby games involving the teams.
The initiative will also see $9.95 childrens’ meals available in the F&B areas of ANZ Stadium, with heavily-discounted food products to be rotated on a monthly basis.
The initiatives were confirmed following collaboration between the four Clubs, ANZ Stadium and the NRL on a plan to encourage more fans to attend games at the Stadium in 2018.
A working group was established in 2017 to come up with ideas to boost attendances and make going to the football more affordable. As part of the collaboration, extensive research was carried out by the clubs on what fans wanted at their games for season 2018.
Announcing the pricing, NRL Chief Executive Todd Greenberg advised “these are incredible initiatives and I congratulate all four clubs and ANZ Stadium for being so proactive and working together to introduce them.
“Our aim is to make it easier and more affordable for fans to attend matches - and these measures should go a long way to doing that.
“This is a real example of clubs working together to get the best result for the fans and for the game.”
The Eels are scheduled to play 11 home games at ANZ Stadium this year. The Rabbitohs and Bulldogs will play nine each, with the Tigers to play four. Eleven day-time matches will also be played this year to make it more convenient for families to attend.
The opening 2018 season NRL game at ANZ Stadium will be the much-anticipated Wests Tigers-Sydney Roosters clash on Saturday 10th March.
