read moreHume City Council has apologised after children were left bleeding and scarred from rough surfaces and sharp edges at Craigieburn’s new Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre.
In addition, the Craigieburn Community Facebook page has been flooded with complaints about the centre from parents.
Several parents told local newspaper the Hume Leader that their children had received cuts to their hands and legs after swimming in the $35.5 million complex, which opened in October.
The Council has moved to allay fears, with spokesman Michael Sinclair saying Splash staff and the construction team completed an inspection of the pool, and underwater divers had repaired a number of sharp edges on the tiles.
Sinclair said the number of reports of cut feet had reduced, and “we believe the issue will be resolved as the tiles have had more time to settle in and establish.
“We sincerely apologise to those families that have been affected."
