Partnership sees launch of Tasmanian Academy of Leadership and Sport

Partnership sees launch of Tasmanian Academy of Leadership and Sport
October 24, 2024

In an Australian first, the Tasmania Devils (AFL), Tasmania JackJumpers (NBL), Hobart Hurricanes (BBL) and Netball Tasmania have come together alongside TasTAFE in a partnership that aims to provide new pathways in the elite-sport industry for Tasmanian students.

Not previously available, the new partnership, facilitated by the Incrementum Advisory Group (IAG), will offer a 12-month program, modelled on the highly successful programs IAG have launched in Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney.

Speaking on the launch, Incrementum Advisory Group's Director, Cain Liddle, shared his excitement around the opportunities the Tasmania Academy of Leadership and Sport would provide to Tasmanian students.

Liddle advised "it's a deeply fulfilling experience to take a brand-new concept to a client and then watch it come to life.

"We are extremely grateful to the Tasmania Devils, Tasmania Jack Jumpers, Hobart Hurricanes, Netball Tasmania and TasTAFE for trusting us with the responsibility to ride shotgun on the Tasmania Academy of Leadership and Sport, a first of its kind in Australia.

"Having all major sports in one state work collaboratively and unite under one brand to provide education and career pathways for young people should make all Tasmanians very proud."

Speaking at the official launch of the program, recently appointed General Manager – Education, Jesse O'Hara spoke on the many benefits the Tasmania Academy of Leadership and Sport would have for students.

O’Hara explained “today is the first step in harnessing the collective power of sport to create engaging, meaningful and place-based education pathways for Tasmania’s future sports industry workforce.

"Bringing together Tasmania’s leading brands into a unified program, in collaboration with TasTAFE, creates a learning environment unlike anything that has been delivered in Australia.

"Following the public announcement, we have fielded a large volume of interest from local students who are keen to be involved in this program.

“Students will gain the hands-on skills, confidence and networks to become the team behind the team, creating a local nursery for off-field and off-court talent for the State."

The program will launch with delivery in Hobart in February 2025 and will expand to the north and north-west of Tasmania in 2026.

Incrementum Advisory Group provide expertise in combining the core competencies of elite sport, governing bodies and educators into contemporary business models that provide the very best student experiences and outcomes.
