read moreJoint funding from Penrith City Council and the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play Grant Scheme has made possible a recent upgrade to The Carriageway in Glenmore Park - making it more contemporary and inclusive with a bird nest swing, star rider, swings, spinner and talk tubes being just some of the elements of the $80,000 project.
Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown said Council was committed to providing residents, both young and old, with outdoor spaces that encouraged play, rest and relaxation and a healthy, active lifestyle and added “the new playspace at The Carriageway was designed in consultation with the community to ensure it met their wants and needs, and we are confident it will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies said the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play initiative aimed to provide people of all ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds with an opportunity to play.
Davies noted “Inclusive playgrounds provide wonderful spaces for families and friends of all ages and abilities. The new Carriageway playspace will be a great place to play, relax and connect as well as helping make the Glenmore Park community even more inclusive.”
Mayor McKeown thanked the NSW Government for its investment in the City adding “We appreciate the government’s support to realise these upgrades and other projects under Council’s 15-year Sport and Recreation Strategy.
“We recognise that working with the government and planning with, not for, our residents is the best way to achieve great outcomes for our community.”
Council is upgrading 25 playspaces across Penrith over the next five years. To find out more, go to penrith.city/playspace-upgrades. https://www.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au/facilities-recreation/outdoor-recreation/playspace-upgrades
