Perth Arena has recently passed five years of operations since its November 2012 opening during which time it has hosted more events any other Australian arena - over 400, while welcoming 3.2 million patrons.

The anniversary also coincides with the Perth Arena experiencing its busiest month yet, hosting 23 shows in just 30 days.

Since Sir Elton John opened Perth Arena in 2012, the venue has been key to Western Australian efforts to attract major events, providing a top-tier venue for drawcard events such as the Hopman Cup and the recently announced pay-per-view UFC.

Perth Arena was the only Australian venue to host multiple Rolling Stones concerts in 2014 and Prince played his only major indoor show of his 'Piano and a Microphone' tour two years later.

Attendance for the venue's premier sporting event, the Hopman Cup, breaks attendance records regularly, with fans cheering on international tennis superstars such as Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Andy Murray.

Acknowledging the success of the Perth Arena through its five years of operations, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray commented “five years in, the decision to build Perth Arena has been proven a resounding success for Western Australians.

"The venue has managed to attract more events than any other Australian arena in its five years - and is central to our tourism and events strategy.

“Securing a top-tier UFC bout would not have been possible without a venue of Perth Arena's quality. The 8,000 interstate visitors and $7 million boost to the economy that will be provided by the UFC bout is a clear indication of the value of this investment.”
