Perth Theatre Trust set for new era

Perth Theatre Trust set for new era
January 1, 2015

Today sees the Perth Theatre Trust embark on what has been described as the “most exciting era in its 34-year history.”

As of 1st January 2015, the Trust has resumed direct management of His Majesty’s Theatre, the State Theatre Centre of WA, Subiaco Arts Centre and Albany Entertainment Centre, replacing former managers AEG Ogden (Perth) Pty Ltd.

Expecting the next 12 months to be an important time of transition for the Trust, Perth Theatre Trust (PTT) Assistant General Manager Rudi Gracias explains “the local arts sector and the public will see some immediate changes such as the Trust’s strategic plan for the next three years, new branding, and a user friendly website, while other changes will be rolled out progressively.

“Our new branding is a contemporary interpretation of stage footlights, synonymous with theatre related productions and is much more relevant for the dynamic and creative industry in which we operate.

“By rebranding PTT we are demonstrating that we have moved into a different phase – a new look for a new era of management and positive productive relationships with our key stakeholders”.

“The new PTT website features big, bold imagery and has features including event suggestions, predictive search, flexible event filters and tools to help them book functions, get to the venue, find parking and find something to eat and drink.

“Event pages promote ticket sales, including clear links directly to Ticketek.”

Gracias said the Trust had already started to do things differently, such as collaborating with both the Perth International Arts Festival and the Fringe World Festival for the first time.

He added “there are also other changes as we welcome Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company to the Subiaco Arts Centre as a resident company.

Gracias said the Trust would be developing stronger relationships with resident companies and the sector, enhancing customer experience and focusing on economic viability over the next three years, concluding “it is a very exciting time for the Trust and we will be striving towards achieving our vision of having full, vibrant theatres.”

Key PTT venue staff are:

• Helen Stewart – Manager, His Majesty’s Theatre
• Alice Jorgensen – Manager, State Theatre Centre of WA
• Garry Snowdon – Manager, Albany Entertainment Centre
• Kate Bell – Manager, Subiaco Arts Centre
• Sarah Wells – Assistant Manager, State Theatre Centre of WA

Overall, PTT has re-engaged 64 full-time staff out of a possible 74 formerly employed by AEG Ogden (Perth) Pty Ltd.

The Western Australian Government announced in April 2014 that the Perth Theatre Trust would directly manage the venues currently under its control from 1st January 2015.

AEG Ogden (Perth) Pty Ltd's contract to manage PTT venues ended on 31st December 2014.

The PTT has also launched a new logo.
