Promoter Paul Dainty confirms postponement of Guns N’ Roses’ Australasian tour to late 2022

Promoter Paul Dainty confirms postponement of Guns N’ Roses’ Australasian tour to late 2022
September 27, 2021

Paul Dainty, Chief Executive of promoter TEG Dainty, has confirmed the postponement of American rock band Guns N’ Roses' scheduled eight date November tour of Australia and New Zealand to late 2022.

One of two major stadium-based tours, along with fellow rockers Kiss, that had been seen as key to reviving the fortunes of the live music industry, the postponement will be a major blow to stakeholders who had made extensive efforts to ensure the band and their entourage could tour.

Explaning the postponement, Dainty advised “despite our best efforts it recently became clear that we could not proceed in 2021 and it has taken time to finalise a plan where we could be confident of completing a national tour of Australia next year.

"We worked for months trying to see whether we could create a tour bubble to get the tour to happen this November.

“As a consequence of all the new scenarios in Sydney and Melbourne, it fell off a cliff, which we completely understand and respect.

“Health and safety comes first, always.”

Urging fans to hold on to their tickets, Dainty stated “for the fans who have already purchased the hottest tickets in  town, hold onto them and you will have the same spot, in the same Stadium, in Summer 2022 for an EPIC 2 HOURS of Guns N’ Roses!

“All ticket holders will be emailed by Ticketek with full details.”

Following weeks of speculation during which Kiss' tour dates have been rescheduled to March, Guns N’ Roses (pictured) took to Twitter to announce the tour’s postponement, writing “Australia and New Zealand! We’re coming back with a bigger and better show with new dates in November and December 2022."

The new schedule will see the New Zealand concert scheduled for Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium switched to Auckland's Eden Park.

Dainty went on to add "this will be the biggest stadium rock tour of summer 2022 with hundreds of people on the road, a massive production and logistics involved.”
