Qudos Bank Arena welcomes more than a million people in 2018

Qudos Bank Arena welcomes more than a million people in 2018
January 31, 2019

Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena has advised that it welcomed over 1,066,607 ticketed patrons in 2018, the largest ticketed crowd to attend the venue for live entertainment since its opening just over 19 years ago.

2018 was a highly successful year for the former Olympic venue, with it being ranked among the world’s Top 10 best performing venues, and Australia's top performing arena, by US publication Pollstar in its end of year reports.

The largest indoor live entertainment arena in Australasia with a capacity of up to 21,389 patrons, Qudos Bank Arena is now looking forward to another year of exciting and diverse artists and live entertainment in 2019, envisaging that further attendance records will be broken before the year is out.

To celebrate achieving in excess of a million ticketed patrons last year, the lucky 1,000,000th patron to be scanned in through Qudos Bank Arena’s turnstiles won a ‘Golden Ticket’ - providing the winner with two tickets to attend every ticketed event hosted at Qudos Bank Arena in 2019. The figure, which does not include guests welcomed for business events throughout the year - such as functions, conferences, seminars and exhibitions – is a phenomenal achievement and one of a number of records broken last year worth celebrating.

Commenting on the venue’s performance, Steve Hevern, General Manager of Qudos Bank Arena said “Qudos Bank Arena hosted over 110 ticketed shows throughout 2018 (and) was a special year, and the huge accomplishments is credit to the entire team that work so hard every day to provide our clients, patrons and guests with outstanding customer service that keeps them coming back”.

Record breaking events at Qudos Bank Arena in 2018 included:

• P!nk - Beautiful Trauma World Tour (nine shows) - broke three Arena records for ‘Total Ticket Sales for any Artist'; 'Total Ticket Sales for a Female Solo Artist’ and 'Longest run of shows ever for a solo artist at the Arena'.
• Bruno Mars - 24k Magic World Tour (five shows) - broke the Arena record for ‘Total Ticket Sales for a Male Solo Artist’.
• Kevin Hart - The Irresponsible Tour (two shows) - broke Qudos Bank Arena’s record for ‘Total Ticket Sales for a Comedy Act’

Some of the other  shows that called Qudos Bank Arena home in 2018 included: Cher, Panic! At the Disco, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Céline Dion, Kendrick Lamar, Niall Horan, Shania Twain, Robbie Williams, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Harry Styles, 21 Pilots, Lana Del Ray, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Fall Out Boy, Queen + Adam Lambert, Roger Waters, The Wiggles, Paramore, Russell Peters, Carl Barron, Hacken Lee x Joey Yung, Tony Robbins, Mayday, Jacky Cheung, Supremacy Australia, Invictus Games 2018, Disney on Ice, CrossFit Games 2018, Harlem Globetrotters, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Aus-X Open, Intel Extreme Masters, Professional Bull Riders Wold Cup, Ice Hockey Classics (USA V Canada), School Spectacular 2018, Grease - The Arena Experience.

Qudos Bank Arena is also home to the Sydney Kings’ NBL team, who with a star studded roster including NBA Superstar Andrew Bogut, and previous NBL MVP’s in Jerome Randle and Kevin Lisch are set to play Finals for the first time at Qudos Bank Arena in 2019.
