Queensland Tourism Industry Council welcomes new General Manager

Queensland Tourism Industry Council welcomes new General Manager
November 1, 2022

The Queensland Tourism Industry Council has introduced Melanie Anderson as its new General Manager - Strategy and Advocacy.

Announcing the appointment, QTIC Chief Executive, Brett Fraser stated "Melanie is an established leader within Queensland tourism and is well-acquainted with the challenges and opportunities that are presented to our tourism sector.

"Melanie’s previous experience includes CEO of Tourism Noosa, General Manager Tourism Industry Development at the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport, as well as roles in aviation attraction, industry development and events attraction.

"Under Melanie’s leadership at Tourism Noosa, Noosa’s visitor economy was guided through the tumultuous impacts of the global pandemic, natural disasters, skills shortages, and the housing affordability crisis. She delivered innovative projects and award-winning marketing campaigns to redefine sustainability and visitor offerings in the region."

With experience working with both government and industry, Anderson is looking forward to her new role "I relish the opportunity to use my experiences from the past three years at Tourism Noosa to deliver the best possible outcomes for QTIC members and the state’s tourism industry.

“I know that I’m joining a capable and dedicated team who are committed to serving the interests of all of Queensland’s tourism operators and businesses.

“Over the coming months, I look forward to meeting many of you and on working collaboratively with government, the corporate sector and industry to address the key issues impacting our visitor economy."
