National Parks Minister Steve Dickson was at the RNA Showgrounds to officially open the first Queensland Parks and Wildlife (QPWS) ranger presentation on Saturday morning, where ideas for winter camping getaways will be a highlight.
Minister Dickson explained "the (Queensland) Government is committed to opening up our beautiful national parks for all Queenslanders and visitors to enjoy, and what better way to celebrate Queensland week than by organising the family's next holiday in our pristine natural areas.
"Queensland's relatively mild winter weather is a great time to get outdoors and experience what our state has to offer; so stop by to have a chat and remember to mark off favourite camping destinations on the huge Queensland map which will be on display."
Around 70,000 people attended the event, which is running from 8th to 11th June, with almost 300 exhibitors on display.
Minister Dickson said there were more than 470 campgrounds in national parks and State forests across Queensland and camping fees are just $5.45 per person a night, or $21.80 a family.
Ranger-led seminars on the many experiences on offer in Queensland's national parks and forests were held over the weekend.
