In 2024, there were 265,818 participants who collectively raised AU$13.5 million for spinal cord research.
The unique event kicks off at the same time all over the world and Australia will set off on Sunday at 9pm AEST. Runners, walkers and rollers can sign up to an organised App Run across the country or sign up to the App Run and run from anywhere the same time.
This year, Red Bull Athletes are lacing up to show their support for Wings for Life from all over the world and are calling on runners of all ability to join in and show their support.
Red Bull Athletes:
Dom di Tomasso, Free runner :
“I’m running in wings for life because I believe the money raised will positively affect so many individuals and can have such an impact on the research for those with spinal cord injuries.
“This will be my first time running wings for life and I’m super excited to be able to be home for it! I’ll be running in Sydney, along with so many incredible runners. Hoping to see you all there.”
Jack Robinson, Pro Surfer:
“I’m running for those who can’t. Wings for Life is an amazing event that brings people together to fund spinal cord research and make a real impact. This will be my first time running - I’m excited to experience it for the first time! It’s a unique and inspiring event, Every step helps make a difference. I’ll be running In my hometown which makes it even more special! Can’t wait to be part of this global event right where I grew up.”
Val Guseli , Snowboarder
“I’m proud to be participating in the Wings for Life World Run to help raise awareness and funds for spinal cord injury research. This cause is close to my heart—I have friends who have suffered life-changing spinal cord injuries, and I deeply admire the strength and resilience they show every day. I run for them, and for the hope that one day soon, a cure will exist. This will be my third time joining the global run. Last year, I ran through Mammoth, California at 4 a.m. The year before that, I was running in Sydney at 9 p.m. That’s the beauty of Wings for Life-no matter where you are in the world, we’re all running together for the same goal.
“I’m not sure yet where I’ll be running this year-maybe Mammoth again, maybe somewhere in Australia-but I’ll be running, no matter what.
”Join me. Support the cause. Be part of something truly meaningful. It’s one of the most rewarding things you can do—for yourself and for the millions living with spinal cord injuries.”
Jessica Fox, Olympian, Canoe Slalom
“I’ve been supporting wings for life for over ten years and know many who have been touched by spinal cord injury. it’s an incredible event and cause to be a part of - no matter where you are, how far you go, we can all make an impact to help find a cure for spinal cord injury. I’ll be using the app to run!”
Chloe Molloy, AFLW
“I’ll be running in wings for life because I think when people come together in the masses to raise awareness and funds it’s powerful, being part of something bigger than yourself. It’s my first time running, I’m nervous to be chased down by the car but I know I’m doing it alongside so many! I’ll be running Sydney and hoping my load management allows me to last long before the car catches me.”
Jarvis Earle, Pro Surfer
“I’m running Wings for Life because it’s a great opportunity to get behind a good cause, stay active and run for those who can’t! I’ve done Wings for Life the last three years and it’s a great event that brings communities together around the world while funding spinal cord research. This year I will most likely be in Austria so I will be running there!”
Molly Picklum, Pro Surfer:
I’m running in wings for life because I want to get behind the cause for spinal cord research, as an athlete i see how likely it is that these injuries can happen and I believe the body is so powerful if we can learn more we can potentially make stronger recoveries to not only walk again but maybe even play sport again. I’ll be at Snapper Beach for the Gold Coast Pro in QLD, which will be a beautiful run just after I compete.”
