read moreSEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has unveiled an all-new Art Aquarium exhibit - Melbourne’s biggest and newest interactive experience.
The new exhibit was launched by 15 youngsters who are battling with cancer, backed by the Challenge charity – which delivers daily support to children and families living with cancer.
With their Crayola textas in hand, the youngsters and their families created their very own sea creature and watched it come to life as it was magically released into the huge nine-metre virtual aquarium.
There were smiles all around as the children marvelled at their creations as they moved like a real sea creature in the virtual underwater world, part of the all-new Coral Caves tropical wonderland at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.
SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium Curator Paul Hale commented “we’re incredibly excited to welcome our friends from Challenge to SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium to help us officially unveil the all-new Art Aquarium exhibit.
“Through creativity and state-of-the-art technology, the Art Aquarium exhibit will allow us to further educate the younger generation about sustainable seas, and protecting our oceans from an early age. Kids can also learn how fish swim and how they survive in the wild.”
The unveiling of the Art Aquarium exhibit marks the end of a successful first year as part of the aquarium’s ongoing partnership with Challenge, to help put a bit of magic back in the lives of seriously ill children.
Challenge is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers daily support to children and families living with cancer. Since 1983, Challenge has helped over 25,000 children and families, making a real difference to their quality of life from the moment they are diagnosed, through treatment and beyond. Our pledge is that throughout their journey, they will never walk alone.
