SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium changes rockpool exhibit to reflect local ecosystems

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium has advised they are exchanging their former tropical Rockpool to one that is inspired by Sydney’s rockpool ecosystems – unveiling it in time for the upcoming spring school holidays.

The attention to the local environment is being celebrated by giving one young sea life enthusiast the chance to win a rockpool adventure with Robbie McCracken, SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium Aquarist and Rockpool Expert (“Robbie the Rockpool Expert”).

Visitors can experience the Sydney starfish and sea urchins while comparing pieces of natural life such as sea anemones and shark teeth. They can also inspect the rockpool’s carefully carved rock work which is filled with temperate sea water directly sourced from the harbour beneath the aquarium.

McCracken advises “reinventing the rockpool to be as local as possible allows us to continuously adjust the environment so that there is always something new for visitors to discover and learn about Sydney’s amazing rock pools.

“It also gives young visitors a better understanding and appreciation of the incredible organisms that they are likely to encounter at their local beaches.”
