read moreThis October, Snap Fitness is collaborating with mental health charity LIVIN to deliver an array of wellness events designed to celebrate and support National Mental Health Month - aimed at raising awareness and support for mental health through exercise, social interaction, and fun.
Snap Fitness is encouraging Australians to not only prioritise their physical health, but more importantly their mental health and their partnership with LIVIN strives to help ignite a movement and create a conversation about the importance of exercise for mental health.
Lift Brands APAC Chief Executive Chris Caldwell said movement and exercise are such powerful tools in the betterment of mental health and he was proud to be collaborating with long-time brand partner, LIVIN.
Caldwell advises “we know exercise can reduce the likelihood, onset and impact of things like depression and anxiety and it’s one of many steps to improving our mind and bodies.
“As a stressbuster and mood enhancer, exercise and activity can help us to feel better than before, even if we are already feeling great.
“Huge factors in poor mental health include feelings of loneliness and isolation and through National Mental Health Month, we not only want to focus on the endorphin boost exercise can give us, but the benefit of community support and group exercises on mental health.”
Luke Foster, a psychologist at LIVIN, says unfortunately, no one is immune from mental ill-health but there are proactive things we can do to boost our mental wellbeing.
“One in five people will experience a mental illness each year and many more suffer in silence due to the stigma and lack of education around mental health. Knowing how to enhance our mental wellbeing can literally be a life saver,” Foster said.
“National Mental Health Month is a great reminder and reason for us to come together to break the stigma of mental health, start important, meaningful conversations and support each other. I can’t think of a better way to do this, than a month filled with action-packed events dedicated to improving our wellness.
“So, we hope to see as many Aussies as possible getting involved in some way in October.”
While all events will be free to participate in, Snap Fitness encourages Australians to donate freely to vital mental health organisations like LIVIN.
Snap Fitness will be making their clubs free to new members for one week to help move the mood of the nation and raise funds for mental health.
Caldwell shared “we will be opening our doors nationally from 10th to 15th October in support of mental health and to raise funds for LIVIN by offering Aussies a free Snap Fitness community open week.
“For non-members, Snap Fitness clubs will be free to access with the option of donating to LIVIN and for every member who signs up during this week, Snap Fitness will be donating $5 from every sign up to LIVIN.”
