read moreIn advance of the official opening of the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina Beach in northern NSW, Surfing Australia has announced that Sony will fit out the HPC with electronic and entertainment equipment.
The partnership will see the electronics and home entertainment leader help fit out the $2 million HPC.
Funded by the Federal Government, the HPC is a world-first facility dedicated to the development of elite surfers and coaches and aims to ensure Australia maintains its place as a world leader in the sport.
Designed in consultation with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), the HPC will be officially opened on 15th June.
The two-level centre of excellence will boast state of the art education facilities, equipment and accommodation and will be at the forefront of sports science and coaching development for surfing.
Sony Australia's Manager for Digital and Relationship Marketing Ruben Lawrence said Sony was proud to play a role in the future of elite surfing, stating "our premium Audio Visual technology will allow the athletes to monitor their performance and will offer them an incredibly high-performance setting in which to train.
"Sony's technology allows the athletes and coaches to analyse performance through record and playback meaning the route to peak performance will be faster."
Surfing Australia Chief Executive Andrew Stark said the HPC fit-out by Sony would provide an extensive range of electronic equipment, adding "the HPC will be an elite training facility and we're proud to have an electronics leader such as Sony supporting the facility.
"It will ensure patrons have the latest technology and entertainment products at their fingertips to further enhance their coaching and training experience at the HPC."
