read moreShortages of qualified staff are impacting tourism operators across South Australia with local businesses experiencing tour cancellations.
To help foster the recovery of the tour and transport sector in SA, Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA) is putting the call out to those interested in supporting local tour guides and transport operators through this difficult period.
Dallas Coull, owner of tour companies Taste the Barossa, See Adelaide & Beyond, and Great Ocean Road & Beyond expressed his concern for not only his own business but also his fellow operators and explained “I know of many businesses, including my own, that are left vulnerable by the loss of just one guide. We can’t keep operating like this.
“Without staff available, we will be forced to cancel bookings, and our broader tourism industry’s reputation will be damaged.
“Tour and transport operators are the glue that bring many visitors to our wonderful attractions, cellar doors, restaurants, and retail stores across our state. Without them, everyone suffers.”
Shaun de Bruyn, Chief Executive TiCSA adds “the struggles of the tour and transport sector are evidence of the significant damage to the industry over the last two years.
“While restrictions have eased, we must continue supporting the industry to rebuild, and we cannot do that without tour and transport operators, who are the ultimate collaborators within the tourism industry.”
Coull urges those interested, with Passenger Accreditation and an MR/LR driver’s license or willing to obtain one, to reach out.
“Whether you’re a semi-retired schoolteacher, someone looking for a change of pace, or just passionate about your region, we encourage everyone to consider employment in the tour operator sector.”
On behalf of the tour operator sector, we would love to connect you to businesses that need workers. Please contact info@ticsa.com.au if you are interested.
