Sunshine Coast and Noosa tourism bodies to make Destination Q forum count

Sunshine Coast and Noosa tourism bodies to make Destination Q forum count
September 10, 2014

The Sunshine Coast is looking to build on its recent growth in visitor numbers by providing Queensland tourism industry delegates with the ultimate welcome as they come together for the third annual Destination Q Forum next week.

Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) and Tourism Noosa will host a joint function, Sunset on the Sand to welcome over 300 delegates to the region.

The two tourism bodies have partnered to organise the welcome function on Noosa Main Beach. This will showcase the best of the regions local fresh produce including Noosa red tomatoes, Gympie goats cheese, Mooloolaba king prawns and beers from Sunshine Coast brewery in one of the region’s most iconic settings.

SCDL Chief Executive Simon Ambrose said the Destination Q event would provide both an immediate and longer-term boost to the Sunshine Coast economy.

Ambrose explained “this forum will not only bring together Government, industry leaders and operators to focus on the state’s tourism sector but, in a coup for the area, will also provide an opportunity to put the spotlight on the Sunshine Coast region.

“Our key priority has been to showcase the fact that the Sunshine Coast offers a rich and diverse range of tourism experiences that go well beyond our superb beaches. Local operators throughout the region have gone out of their way to offer exciting pre and post touring options for delegates to allow them to really appreciate the attractiveness of the region and strength of our tourism product.”

Tourism Noosa Chief Executive Damien Massingham is enthusiastic about Noosa hosting Destination Q 2014 adding “we are all very excited about welcoming the Premier, Queensland Ministers and the Queensland Tourism Industry as we kick off this years event watching sunset from Noosa Main Beach with the backdrop of Noosa National Park.

“One of the key reasons Noosa was chosen to host Destination Q this year was due to the collaboration between the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa and the Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort and Spa to present one single tender proposal that not only met the government criteria, but also exceeded its expectations.”

“This approach will be built on in the future to ensure we continue to provide guests visiting our destination a warm welcome to Noosa.”

The two day forum is being jointly at the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa and the Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort and Spa.
