Surburban venues to benefit in 2023 NRL season

Surburban venues to benefit in 2023 NRL season
November 11, 2022

The fixture list for the 2023 NRL season has been announced with games being scheduled at 35 different stadiums, among them a number of suburban venues such as 4 Pines Park, PointsBet Stadium, Leichhardt Oval, BlueBet Stadium and Campbelltown Stadium. Adelaide Oval will host the Origin opener.

The diverse choice is as a result of Australia and New Zealand hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which has resulted in some regular NRL stadiums not being available for up to 57 days during the season, including AAMI Park, Accor Stadium, Allianz Stadium and Suncorp Stadium. The Brisbane Broncos will play three games at the Gabba. Melbourne Storm meanwhile are likely to play at either Marvel Stadium or the MCG, whilst the Roosters play a home game at the SCG.

The season gets underway on 3rd March, with the Parramatta Eels hosting the Melbourne Storm at CommBank Stadium. The Dolphins meanwhile will play their inaugural home game on Sunday, against the Roosters at Suncorp Stadium.

NRL action also returns to Perth, with Optus Stadium hosting a double header on 5th August, with the Dolphins v Knights and the Rabbitohs v Sharks. Darwin’s TIO Stadium meanwhile will host the Eels and Broncos in round 8.

Regional venues will also benefit with matches scheduled for Tamworth, Mudgee, Bathurst, Coffs Harbour, Wagga Wagga, Cairns, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg.

The 2023 NRL Grand Final will be played on Sunday 1st October at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.
