Swimming Australia will be one of the organisation’s Official Community Partners in 2022, including acting as the campaign partner for the ‘Splash the Stigma’ initiative. Running from 25th - 27th February 2022, Splash the Stigma brings the community together to promote the positive benefits of exercise for wellbeing, all while having fun and raising vital funds for youth mental health.
Swimming Australia Chief Executive, Eugénie Buckley, believes the partnership with batyr aligns strongly to the Governing Body’s focus on athlete wellbeing.
Buckley notes “delivering wellbeing and engagement systems plays a significant role in ensuring a holistic approach to performance.
“Supporting the mental health of our athletes is critical and partnering with an organisation like batyr asissts us to tackle any ongoing stigma while continuing to build a safe and empowering environment for all swimmers, from the grassroots through to the elite level and beyond.”
Swimming Australia will leverage its vast network across the country to promote the Splash the Stigma campaign and assist in raising funds to help deliver batyr programs which engage, educate and empower young people, giving them the knowledge and skills to lead mentally healthy lives.
batyr Chief Executive Nic Brown advised “we welcome the partnership with Swimming Australia and are excited to be working with them in 2022 to support the mental health and wellbeing of their athletes and the community.
“batyr is all about connecting with young people where they are, helping to build stigma free and supportive environments in which they can thrive. This partnership will allow us to continue to support even more young people, ensuring they have the tools and resources to navigate tough times and look out for each other.
“We're also thrilled to have Swimming Australia come on board as an official partner of our 'Splash the stigma' campaign and we look forward to taking them on in the pool!”
The collaborative partnership with batyr also extends to Swimming Australia athletes, coaches and staff, with access to the Being Herd workshop which aims to enable participants to tell their story in a constructive and empowering way that may one day benefit another person going through a difficult time.
