Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness opens expanded training zone

Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness opens expanded training zone
March 2, 2018

Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness has officially opened 350 metre² of new gym space at the Sydney University Sports & Aquatic Centre (SUSAC).

Available to all Gold and Silver gym pass holders, the additional space has been added to SUSAC’s existing weights and cardio rooms and features a 17-metre sled track, two TRX station and fresh cardio equipment. A Hammer Strength HD Athletic 'Rig’ - a versatile, functional apparatus perfect for strength and performance training - is due to arrive in mid-March.

Fitted with cross grind 12mm black rubber flooring and attack turf with two SUSF-branded logos, the space is home to a prowler sled, battle ropes, a plyometric foam box jump and two Octane Assault Bikes.

As well, the zone has a brand new kettlebell set (4kg-32kg), a full med ball set (2kg-10kg), SUSF-branded elite weight plates (94 in total, ranging from 5-20kg) and SUSF-branded dumbbells (complete set ranging from 10-50kg).

It also includes a number of new benches (flat and Olympic) and barbells (competition, barbells and evolution).

Perhaps the most notable feature of the expansion new wall art depicting the lion in the University’s crest design with fit, determined runners on either side along with a quote ‘At first they’ll ask why you’re doing it. Later they’ll ask how you did it’.

This serves as motivation for members working to be their best, while speaking to the SUSF story in overcoming challenges and always striving for excellence.

The two TRX station walls feature black & white imagery that further compliment the functional space.

Work on the expansion began in January 2018, with SUSF extending into space formerly occupied by the University of Sydney's Co-op Bookshop.
