Tasmania’s small hospitality businesses given financial boost

Tasmania’s small hospitality businesses given financial boost
October 31, 2024

The Tasmanian Government is supporting the hospitality sector to invest in activities aimed at attracting visitors to the regions.

The $400,000 Multicultural Small Business Grants Program is now open to eligible businesses with grants between $700 and $5,000 available under the program to help finance projects that build capability and new skills.

Tasmanian Minister for Small Business and Hospitality, Jane Howlett, said as part of the state’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, they are backing small businesses.

Minister Howlett advised "we are providing certainty and confidence for small businesses through our draft 2025-26 Small Business Growth Strategy Implementation Plan, which has now been released.

"The Implementation Plan sets out the actions our government and private sector is taking towards achieving the strategy's objection.

"Our Government is also delivering a suite of grants to help businesses grow, access new markets and offset the cost of insurance premiums."

In addition, the guidelines for the $500,000 Hospitality Business Boost Grants Program are now available online, with this grant program to open on 13th November.

Minister Howlett added "The hospitality industry is an important part of the State's tourism sector and is part of the lifeblood of our regions.

"It supports more than 8% of the State's jobs and injects more than $700 million into the economy each year.

"We want to help our small hospitality businesses to grow their businesses, recover from unexpected events, to innovate or diversify and while doing so attract visitors to their regions.

"That is why, as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are backing in tourism and hospitality businesses."
