read moreThe Ascot Vale showgrounds have been abuzz with noise and colour over the last 10 days as thousands have flocked to the Melbourne Royal Show.
Visitors have lapped up the best produce of Victoria's agricultural industry, enjoyed the rides, games, animals and 386 showbags on offer.
About 500,000 are expected to file through over the 12 day Show, which began on Saturday 21st September and end tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd October).
Highlights at the Show have included the Freestyle Moto X Team, nightly fireworks displays, thrilling carnival rides, live entertainment and special appearances.
High winds last Thursday afternoon (26th September) led to the Show having to close early, at 7pm, with the wind causing part of the marquee of the main Commonwealth Bank Entertainment Dome to splt.
With event hosts the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) unable to present the full Show offering and full program of evening entertainment, visitors to Show were offered a ticket as they exited to use on another day.
In a statement, the RASV explained that there had been minor damage to the marquee, the statement reading "the Entertainment Dome is structurally sound (but) the seam of the tent's fabric has been damaged and will be repaired when winds permit, which we anticipate will be completed by tomorrow (Friday 27th September) morning."
