Upgraded East Fremantle Community Park completed featuring Belgravia Leisure managed gym

Upgraded East Fremantle Community Park completed featuring Belgravia Leisure managed gym
November 4, 2024

Works on the revitalised $34 million East Fremantle Community Park are now complete, with a new commercial gym among its offerings.

The redevelopment of the facility also includes an upgraded football oval and floodlighting, a new synthetic bowling green, unisex change rooms, a dog exercise area, a skate zone, community gardens, café, bar, kitchen and function rooms.

The new health club and gym - B Active - is managed by Belgravia Leisure and is focussed on inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging and well-being to ensure the facility will thrive as a community hub.

The facility offers over 75 classes scheduled in over 1000 metre² of light and airy space, Reformer Pilates, group exercise, a cycle studio and small group functional training through their Connect30 program.

With $26 million in State Government funding, the $34 million facility is now an integrated community and sporting precinct. Apart from the commercial gym offering, the facility is home for the East Fremantle Football Club, East Fremantle Bowling Club and East Fremantle Croquet Club, with the park also featuring half-court basketball, and an all-abilities nature play space.

Additional Government funding of $340,000 will assist the Sharks with relocation and fit-out costs, including a new video scoreboard, signage and some temporary game day infrastructure.

WA Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman shared "I would like to give a warm welcome to the East Fremantle Football Club on their return to their spiritual home in Moss Street. The players will soon be training and playing there and enjoy new modern facilities that will not just benefit the club, but also other sporting groups and the wider community.

"After a three-year absence, Sharks' fans will be delighted to see their team play once again at their original home ground in the 2025 season.

"I commend both the Sharks club and local council for finalising negotiations over lease and licence agreements so that footy can now return to East Fremantle in a brand new, state-of-the-art facility that will be a valuable asset for the local community.

"The East Fremantle Community Park is a space to keep everyone of all ages and abilities active, healthy, and connected."
