read moreThe Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) has announced the appointment of Felicia Mariani as its new Chief Executive, replacing the outgoing Brad Ostermeyer.
Mariani brings to VTIC extensive experience across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, most recently leading The Good Food Foundation and Jamie’s Ministry of Food.
Other experience includes executive and senior management roles in Tourism Victoria, Managing Director of the Australian Tourism Export Council and as Chief Executive of Tourism Tasmania.
Announcing her appointment, VTIC Chair Charles Davidson said Mariani’s impressive background working towards policy outcomes, industry advocacy and government relations would position VTIC well for the 2018 Victorian Election, as tourism and the visitor economy continues to be a key area of focus.
Davidson stated “Felicia has a varied background in tourism in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales, with proven experience of strong stakeholder management, marketing and brand building outcomes and a deep understanding of policy, advocacy and government relations.
“VTIC is very excited to have secured such a committed and passionate Chief Executive to take the helm as we enter an election year, and I am sure Felicia will provide great leadership as our advocacy campaign gets underway.
“The tourism sector accounts for more than 210,000 jobs now and is estimated to reach 320,000 by 2024/25, so VTIC has a vital role as the collective voice representing the industry and advocating on its behalf.”
Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Mark Stone said Mariani came to VTIC with an excellent reputation in Government, private and Not-For-Profit organisations.
Stone added “VTIC is the voice of thousands of tourism operators and businesses in Victoria and I have no doubt Felicia will make a significant impact as she takes on this important role representing the industry.
“I also thank outgoing Chief Executive Brad Ostermeyer for his work at VTIC in the past year, securing some significant advocacy achievements including, among others, continued funding for Visit Victoria marketing activities and a commitment to improving facilities at the Shipwreck Coast in Victoria.”
Mariani will start in the role in mid-January 2018.
