Visitor Experience Training facility opens in Launceston to support hospitality and tourism industry
February 23, 2022

The Visitor Experience Training (VXT) office and training facility in Launceston has opened, offering the means to connect knowledgeable industry professionals with course participants, providing them the opportunity to share their expertise with those who are new to the sector.

Tasmania's tourism and hospitality industries are vital to the state’s future economic sustainability and as the sector continues to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, industry-led hospitality training will be vital to ensure the right workforce exists to support the industry.

The establishment of its head office in Launceston’s CBD provides a central base for the VXT team to engage with stakeholders around the state.

The VXT office and training space was officially opened by Tasmanian Premier, Peter Gutwein. The Tasmanian Government recognised the achievements of VXT over the past 11 months and understood the vital importance of VXT as an industry-led training organisation to ensure the right workforce exists to support the industry.

Premier Gutwein noted ”the Government allocated $1 million in the 2020-21 Budget to fund the establishment of a hospitality industry-led training organisation, and I am very pleased that VXT is now in full swing and future-proofing the industry for years to come.

“Importantly, the training courses offered through VXT are industry led, with course content developed through consultation with industry leaders.

“Congratulations to the VXT board for their achievements over the last six months and I wish them success with this new training facility in the years to come.”

The courses are designed to train a skilled industry-ready workforce who are passionate about delivering the Tasmanian experience to locals and visitors alike.

The facility will play host to its first course in mid-March, with a number of other in-person VXT training courses scheduled including those for Launceston, Devonport, Burnie, Sorell, Hobart, King Island, Queenstown, New Norfolk, Smithton, Port Arthur, and St Helens.

All courses are introductory level and perfect for anyone looking for work in the hospitality and tourism industries. Enrol now
