read moreWater Polo Australia has announced a partnership with Belgravia Group, creating opportunities and benefits for members and enabling long-term participation and business growth for the sport of water polo.
Water Polo Australia (WPA) believes the partnership with Belgravia Group will boost the organisation’s capacity to raise the profile of the sport of water polo in Australia, while also creating significant benefits for members.
Water Polo Australia Chief Executive, Richard McInnes enthused “Water Polo Australia is excited to announce the partnership with Belgravia Group and more importantly thrilled that the relationship means greater opportunities and benefits for the water polo community can be rolled out across the country.”
Water Polo Australia’s partnership with Belgravia Group will directly benefit WPA members through increased access to water polo activities in Belgravia Leisure’s popular Learn to Swim programs and other swimming programs. The partnership will also create pathways into the sport and clubs.
The expansion of participation and athlete support programs aimed at raising the profile of water polo and increasing its appeal in the community will also benefit members in the long term.
McInnes adds “with WPA and Belgravia Group working together to develop benefits for individual members and clubs as well as expanding delivery of water polo participation programs and athlete support programs across Belgravia-managed facilities, together we aim to see an increase in awareness of water polo outside the water polo community, translating to a long-term growth of the sport.”
Belgravia Group, founded by Geoff Lord in 1990, currently manages over 170 leisure venues across Australia and New Zealand on behalf of over 60 local and state governments.
Lord advises "Belgravia Group is looking forward to the opportunities and benefits that a partnership with Water Polo Australia can bring to members. The partnership aligns closely with our focus on connecting community with leisure and we are passionate about introducing the sport to members of the community who may never have considered it.”
With a strong focus on sport and wellness, the Belgravia Group’s health and fitness portfolio includes Genesis Health + Fitness, Coaching Zone, Ninja Parc, BKs Gym & Swim, and Jump! Swim Schools.
Additionally, the Belgravia Group supports the growth of sports in Australia through its subsidiaries Sports Community, Belgravia Sports Apparel and Australian Sports Camps, which provides holiday sports coaching for boys and girls aged six-16. Belgravia Group’s not-for-profit division of the business, Belgravia Foundation, supports local communities through creating greater access to sports, leisure, recreation and fitness.
To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Belgravia Group will be providing Water Polo Australia members with complimentary access to the Home Fitness Network – offering online support and motivation to keep active and moving during temporary lockdowns.
In addition, access to the Belgravia Foundation’s Mental Health eLearning Program (MHeLP) - an online resource that equips the learner to better understand their own and others mental health and improves their confidence to support someone living with a mental health condition - will be available to Water Polo Australia members. It is completely free, self-paced and earns learners two continuing education credits (CECs).
Water Polo Australia is confident the partnership with Belgravia Group will increase participation, create benefits for members, raise awareness of water polo in the broader community and produce opportunities for the sport into the future.
