The Western Australian Government, the AFL and the WA Football Commission (WAFC) have finally agreed a deal to move AFL games to the new Perth Stadium when it opens next year.

The agreement includes the WAFC, which currently manages Domain Stadium, Perth's principal AFL venue, getting a guaranteed $10.3 million a year for the first 10 years. The financial arrangements will be reviewed after that period, with potential extensions.

The deal effectively brings an end to tense negotiations, which recently saw the AFL renew its threat to stay at Domain Stadium.

The ABC reports that while the Western Australian Government is yet to formally sign the agreement, but it is essentially what it had offered.

Next year's AFL Premiership fixtures are expected to be released soon.

The stadium is due to be officially opened in January, and will be the home venue for matches for Perth's two AFL clubs, the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers.
