The Regional Athlete Support Program (RASP) funding agreement will assist in the delivery of a high-quality daily training environment for regional athletes through the program's Regional Talent Development Network (RTDN) and Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme (ATSS).
The RTDN comprises nine regional academies and sport talent networks across Western Australia.
These academies and networks provide services and programs that contribute to the development of athletes, coaches and officials who are part of a sports talent development pathway.
RASP grants have been provided to the following RTDN academies, programs and networks:
The Regional ATSS will assist athletes with expenses attending training camps and competitions at regional, state and national levels.
It will support athletes who are registered members of a club or association that is affiliated with a State Sporting Association.
Western Australian Minister Sport and Recreation Tony Buti notes "through funding programs such as this, we are giving regional athletes, coaches and officials access to top-quality training and development.
"The 2021 grants have been distributed to nine RTDN academies, programs and networks, and I'm really excited to see the sporting talent coming out of these regions."
