read moreWire theft last week from lighting installations at sportsfields in the Shoalhaven region will impact the community as access to the sportsgrounds will need to be restricted until the lights can be repaired.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley is disappointed and notes “we take theft seriously and we are asking local communities to assist us by reporting any suspicious activity via phone or online to Crime Stoppers.
“At Huskisson Sportsground, the protective steel cover had been removed and the wiring stolen from the south western pole. The other three poles are visible from surrounding houses, which could explain why those floodlights haven’t been affected.”
The wire cables have been removed from the pits and poles at St Georges Basin Soccer Fields and several hundred metres of underground cabling has been removed from The Wool Lane Sportsfield.
The Crookhaven Rugby League Field at Culburra Beach has had all of its underground cables removed, along with cables removed from the plastic conduit on all light towers.
Crime stoppers can be reached on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestoppers.com.au/
