read moreWodonga Council, located in the north-east of Victoria, has awarded the tender for the Baranduda Fields Soccer Pavilion to Canvas Projects Pty Ltd.
71 tender documents were issued and 17 tenders were received to build the pavilion on the new Baranduda Fields site.
Canvas Projects is an Architectural and Design practice based in Melbourne with architects, designers, facilitators and thinkers operating within the fields of architecture, interiors, urban design, product design, development and research.
Councillor John Watson advised “there were 17 submission which is fantastic so we can find the best possible candidate.
“I’m looking forward to seeing their (Canvas Projects) work coming to Wodonga.”
Councillor Brian Mitchell said it was fabulous to see so many submissions and added “I’m very excited that it’s finally getting under way. It’s been a very competitive process.”
The report stated Canvas Projects demonstrated a high level of project appreciation including the prioritisation of greenspace, community connection and activation, celebrating local and cultural identities, as well as outlining growth outcomes for the whole Baranduda Fields precinct, not just the soccer facility.
They also highlighted significant previous experience in the delivery of similar projects and specifically addressed all the key objectives/strategies from the Baranduda Fields Master Plan.
GHD Pty Ltd prepared the initial master plan in 2013 that included extensive stakeholder and community consultation.
This master plan was subsequently revised by Spiire in 2017 and reviewed by SportEng in 2019.
The council made application to the Federal Government Community Development Grants Program to deliver Stage 1 of the works and was successful in securing $10 million.
The council has allocated a further $10 million in budgets from the 2020-2021 financial year through to the 2022-2023 financial year.
A total budget of $20 million is available for the Baranduda Fields Stage 1 project.
Stage 1 works will include the following.
