A world first gym innovation, the Speedo Fitness Club, has been thriving at Sydney’s Bondi Beach since opening earlier this year.

The new boutique aquatic and fitness destination, which features a 25 metre heated indoor lap pool likely to be equipped aquatic exercise bicycles, is located in the heart of Bondi Beach in the Pacific Building.

On the gym floor the club offers an extensive array of cardio and weights with advanced equipment from Technogym to deliver a unique and personalised fitness experience.

Bondi Beach has been both the location for many Australian fitness innovations and the spiritual home of Speedo. While having grown to become a multi-national, and now foreign-owned brand, it is fitting that this first from Speedo is located at Sydney’s iconic beach.

Opened in June this year, the facility briefly operated as Gold’s Gym before changes to the American group’s Australian franchise operations. Currently it is the only 24/7 club at Bondi Beach.

The subsequent link with Speedo appears to reflect the company’s move from being a performance swimwear manufacturer and into fitness, with the brand’s SpeedoFit initiative having moved to capitalise on the growing popularity of aquatic-based fitness.

Rising interest in swimming for fitness has seen the arrival of specialised studios such as Acqua in New York's Tribeca neighborhood that specialises in aqua cycling.

Australasian Leisure Management has made inquiries to Speedo as to whether it has plans to use the Speedo Fitness Club brand in other locations.
