read moreSet to celebrates 16 years of promoting water safety around the world, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson will be returning this year, running internationally over 24 hours on Thursday 26th June.
Launched in June 2010, The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) is a global water safety event focused on teaching life-saving water competency skills to help prevent drowning, make water recreation more fun and build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim.
Coordinated by the World Waterpark Association (WWA), all types of aquatic facilities and learn-to-swim providers are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Local WLSL events take place at waterparks, pools, aquatic centres and beaches on six continents with host locations able to create special WLSL events or participate in the program by tracking and promoting their regularly scheduled swim lessons that day.
Explaining the importance of this critical water safety initiative, WWA President, Rick Root stated “every child deserves the safety that basic swimming skills and layers of protection provide.
“The WLSL event is a tremendous communication platform to help educate kids, parents and caregivers about this vital issue.”
Participation costs US$99 per facility, with discounts for operators who host the event at multiple locations.
Registered facilities receive a comprehensive, turnkey Host Location Guide and digital marketing materials, including logos, posters, flyers, web banners, press releases, social media graphics, day-of-event materials, guidelines and the curriculum.
The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™
Since its inception, the WLSL has equipped more than 413,300 kids and adults in 54 countries with essential water safety skills. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson initiative spans six continents, with more than 5,900 facilities uniting communities in the fight against childhood drowning through education and awareness since 2010.
Australasian Leisure Management is a Silver Level Supporter of WLSL.
