read moreIn an industry first, Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) and Bon Education have joined to establish the Recreation and Aquatic Management Program (RAMP) a week-long residential education program held over two years.
The inaugural program will be held at the Silverwater Resort in San Remo, Victoria in November 2019.
RAMP is an educational program specifically designed for leaders and emerging leaders in the Aquatic and Recreation Facility industry. Drawing upon industry leaders and academics across Australia and Europe Bon Education, ARV and Victoria University have created this is unique and outstanding program.
Bon Education specialises in Service Improvement Programs (SIP), Contract Performance Optimisation (CPO) and Industry Training Schools (ITS) for major fitness, sport, leisure and recreation facilities, throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Designed for senior and middle managers the course would also benefit many other levels of the organisation. It is expected students from Australia and overseas will undertake the program.
The curriculum covers key areas of Recreation and Aquatic management delivering tertiary standard theory presented by academics and real-life examples from experienced industry practitioners. Subject areas include leadership, people management, marketing, customer service, program management, measuring and evaluating performance, communication and general management subjects such as legal and administrative matters.
Bon Education Chief Executive Michael Ryle explains why this type of program is needed in the industry. “Career progression comes from consistent attainment of skills and knowledge. This program is a unique combination of robust educational content, access to industry leaders with local and international experience and an opportunity to build relationships with industry peers.
“Money can’t buy the value you will receive personally and professionally from immersing yourself in this unique experience.”
ARV Chief Executive Grant Connors added “the industry has so many talented people, furthering their skills and knowledge by engaging in a program of this calibre can only bring increased personal and professional success whilst growing expertise across the whole industry.”
Last week industry leaders from Australia and the UK participated in a workshop regarding the RAMP curriculum and delivery.
Mark Sesnan, Managing Director of GLL UK summed up the overall view of the workshop “this program not only trains people for the job they are doing right now, but also the job that is coming in the future.”
Applications for 2019 are now open and limited to 20 per class. As 2020 and in every second year the program will be held at other similar venues in Australia.
