Australian ski resorts reveal investments in advance of 2025 winter season
April 27, 2025

Charlotte Pass Snow Resort, Falls Creek and the Selwyn Snow Resort have each advised of infrastructure investment in advance of the 2025 winter season.

Over the past summer, Charlotte Pass Snow Resort commenced construction at the Guthries Double Chairlift, a major upgrade that replaces the iconic Guthries High Speed Poma, which has been a staple of the resort since 1961.

The new chairlift will offer guests quicker access to the resort’s beloved advanced terrain, transporting riders effortlessly over the location’s ‘boulder field’ and straight onto thrilling runs.

As part of Falls Creek’s ongoing investment in the guest experience, a major snowmaking upgrade on Drovers Dream has been in the works over the summer season.

This included 12 new Techno Alpin automated snow guns to provide guests with more terrain and lifting access from opening day through to closing. It will also even out the flow of guests in early and late season by providing incredible beginner and low intermediate terrain options, including Drovers Dream, Main Street, and Australia’s longest green run - Wombat’s Ramble.

Commenting on the project, Falls Creek Vice President and General Manager, Richard Phillips advised “the Drovers Dream snowmaking project will transform the experience for guests in the early winter opening up this amazing beginner and intermediate terrain for guests earlier than we have in the past.”

The summer months have also seen the Selwyn Snow Resort enhance its snowmaking capabilities with the addition of one TT10 and two TR10 snowmaking guns from TechnoAlpin - advanced guns will be strategically positioned at the top of the Wombat T-Bar and the Township Triple Chair.

A spokesperson for the resort advised “this exciting upgrade will not only improve snow cover on the runs served by these lifts but also extend operations throughout the winter season, ensuring more consistent and longer-lasting conditions for skiers and snowboarders.”
