read moreSet to host to a full program of sporting fixtures, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium has commenced a recruitment drive for hospitality staff.
Preparing to host almost 200,000 spectators over an eight-days of NRL, State of Origin, rugby union and football matches during the period from 9th to 17th July, the venue is looking to fill hundreds of positions.
Anticipating a need for about 1500 catering staff for each event, Suncorp Stadium Chief Executive, Alan Graham told Brisbane’s 4BC Drive “this week will be a super feast of footy that’s got something for every football fan.
“It’s all top-shelf games and we’re asking for Brisbane hospitality workers to roll their sleeves up and get involved in this amazing week.”
Fixtures start tonight when the Wallabies take on England in a rugby union Test match set to draw an estimated 50,000 fans.
The Broncos will take on St George-Illawarra the following day in an NRL match that Brisbane officials are promoting as the 30th anniversary of the club’s first premiership win over the Dragons in 1992. Just three days later the stadium will host a 52,000-seat sell out for the State of Origin decider, before the field is converted for football with the arrival of English Premier League teams Aston Villa and Leeds United on17th July.
It is the highest concentration of elite sport ever held at the venue, and is set to easily eclipse the $20 million injection into the economy delivered by this year’s NRL Magic Round.
Acknowledging the shortages hospitality employers are experiencing, Graham added “we are really looking to get as many people as we can, because we need up to 1500 on a big game, that’s a lot of people.”
