read moreCaravan Industry Association of Australia Chief Executive Stuart Lamont has today issued a ‘Holiday Park Insurance Update’ to Association members advising of the availability of insurance cover for features including jumping pillows, waterslides playgrounds and related attractions in holiday parks and resort.
In an update titled it ‘Might be Time to Reconsider Pulling out that Jumping Pillow or Playground’, Lamont writes “we appreciate that the insurance market had been extremely tight for the past couple of years.
“Over this time Caravan Industry Association of Australia has worked to better educate insurers of the manageable risks within the industry, and worked hard on encouraging new players to the market to introduce choice for industry operators. We have also been saddened to hear of some operators removing or contemplating removing important activities for which our consumers have grown to love and place high value on.
“We have not been the only one however to be working hard behind the scenes on a solution.
“Very good and longterm friend to the industry Julie Pernecker from All Parks Insurance herself fell victim to her limit capacity being reduced and in some cases removed. She was unable to insure operators to the level they were used to, when the market shifted away from the industry. Rather than giving up however, she has been tirelessly working with syndicates in London, assisting in changing the narrative and thinking towards the Australian caravan park industry, and trying to identify legitimate solutions for industry.”
Advising of “great news”, Lamont explained that Pernecker had “received a binder out of London through her broker that too, has been fighting hard to get the right cover for the industry”, noting “the binder allows All Parks Insurance to offer cover for jumping pillows, waterslides, pump tracks etc which have been previously elusive.
“This cover can take effect from as early as September and offers some hope for operators who may have otherwise had to remove such assets. This is on the back of previously secured comprehensive property insurance for many operators around the country (noting that some areas still remain challenging particularly in the north).
“We are also aware of others who are close to coming into market on public liability which should hopefully provide further liquidity and choice again.”
Lamont referred those interested in exploring the offering to visit the All Parks Insurance website at www.allparks.com.au
