FIT Bali Wellness Summit identifies markets links between fitness, tourism and wellbeing

FIT Bali Wellness Summit identifies markets links between fitness, tourism and wellbeing
January 29, 2020

Leaders in the wellness industry across Asia have collectively identified ways to tap into the active travel market as it becomes a leading trend this decade.

Late last year, fitness, health and wellbeing professionals across a range of different industries came together for the inaugural FIT Bali Wellness Summit, highlighting different initiatives and identifying what we can expect to see in the wellness space this year.

Representing Australasian Leisure Management, Jo Flynn of Salti attended the Summit, joining with change makers as they delved into conversations about creating real connections, collaboration over competition, sustainability and authenticity across the fitness, hospitality, recreation and wellness industries.

Flynn reports “a common message across all cohorts was that people want a socially active lifestyle that includes opportunities to involve their friends. And while everyone remains digitally connected, people are still craving to get outside of the apps and become involved in real life experiences and connections.

“In depth discussions from successful leaders in the boutique wellness, boutique fitness and boutique lifestyle brands space provided insights about pushing boundaries and how recreation can offer other programs that are outside of what everyone else is doing. This theme carried through to the hospitality industry, with travellers in both the business and leisure categories seeking to engage in social experiences, while continuing to keep up their physical activity that isn’t confined to four walls of a gym.

“It was said that hotels have an opportunity to delve into new, unique programs and greater offerings rather than setting up an ad-hoc gym or wellness space as a second thought. With the spa or recreation centre not the primary income stream across the hospitality industry, there’s unlimited potential for the industry to tap into a market that is craving new experiences, social environments, active travel and wellness programs.”

Organised by FIT Summit Pte. Ltd, the Bali Wellness Summit is one of a series of fitness and wellness industry events held across Asia staged as part of a business network for health, fitness, wellness and sport.

FIT Summit’s next event is the World Fitness and Wellness Summit, Exhibition and Awards being held at Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore from 14th to 16th April.
