Greg Norman to join 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Brisbane Organising Committee

Sport Australia Hall of Fame member Greg Norman is being nominated as an independent director on the Board of the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOG).
Norman, the most successful golfer in Australian history, is also a highly successful businessman across multiple sectors including real estate, golf course design and events, and hospitality ventures.
Norman, who spent part of his childhood in Brisbane, has stepped down from as Chief Executive of LIV Golf In recent weeks.
Norman is the Federal Government’s appointee to replace Member for Moreton Graham Perrett, who will leave his role on the board with his retirement from politics at the Federal election.
Announcing the appointment, Federal Minister for Sport, Anika Wells stated “Mr Norman is synonymous with Australian sporting success on the world stage and I look forward to drawing on his 40 years of global sporting experience and business acumen.
“Mr Norman learned to play golf in the northern suburbs of Brisbane and as a proud Queenslander understands our State’s sporting pride and is a passionate supporter of the Olympic and Paralympic movements.”
Norman noted “while I wish I could wind the clock back four decades and compete in 2032 - it is a privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games.
“In my youth in the 70’s I worked in the golf shop at Royal Queensland and now that course will be the home of golf at Brisbane 2032.
“As a proud Queenslander it is an honour and privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games.
“We will prove our credentials as world leaders in events, sport and hospitality at Brisbane 2032, and create an incredible legacy for this state. I look forward to working alongside the other committee members of OCOG in achieving our goals.”
The Brisbane OCOG’s next meeting is scheduled for 5th April.
