January 26, 2024
Sport /

Alexandra Ash has resigned from her role as Chief Executive at Gymnastics Australia effective 25th January 2024.

Ash joined Gymnastics Australia as its Chief Executive in June 2022 having come from YMCA.

Under her leadership Gymnastics Australia returned to its pre-Covid membership targets with over 237,408 registered members across 583 affiliated clubs nationally.

She has also been in the position as the sport navigated its onboarding to the National Redress scheme, which has solidified the sport’s position as industry-leading in child safety and sports integrity.

Gymnastics Australia Board President Sam Offord has expressed appreciation for Ash’s contribution as its Chief Executive and wished her all the best for her next chapter.

Director of Gymnastics Australia High Performance Chris O’Brien has been appointed interim Chief Executive. Highly respected within the gymnastics and Olympic sports community, O’Brien has solidified the final preparations for delivery of the 2024 Paris program and has a deep commitment to membership and grassroots development across the country.

Offord shared “we are confident that our strong management team under Chris’ guidance, backed by the hard working members of the gymnastics community across Australia will continue progressing our sport toward a strong and successful future.

“The Board will initiate a recruitment process for a new CEO, ensuring a seamless transition of leadership.”
