Officially opened yesterday (Sunday 28th May), the revitalised Noffke Farm Park facility includes a club room, commercial kitchen, public amenities, outdoor viewing area, office, storeroom, gym and maintenance shed.
The $1.825 million project was jointly funded by Logan City Council, the Division 6 Local Infrastructure Program and the Queensland Government.
Advising that the new facility would help the club reach new heights, Waterford Demons Rugby League Club President Glenn Bochow stated “our volunteers are the backbone of our club and without them we would not exist.
“The new club is a reward for all our members and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the club running.
“It has enabled us to put back on display our club’s history that has been stored in boxes for the past few years…it has also allowed us to gain a source of income by hiring it out to our members for functions, as well as hold our own club functions.”
Premis was contracted to deliver the new clubhouse on a greenfield site, for Logan City Council under a lump sum contract.
The project was delivered in two stages: Construction of the new facility; Demolition of the existing facilities, after construction of the new facility.
Premis advises “one of the key features of the club house is the stunning and functional perforated metal screen doors on either side of the amenities area. Aside from providing an affordable, eye-catching aesthetic that many other building materials cannot match, the screens display the Demons Football Club logo.”
Mayor Darren Power said Logan Council was proud to support community sporting clubs with important facility upgrades and noted “our local sporting clubs are central in establishing active and healthy community.
“Council continues to invest in the development and growth of our grassroots sporting groups and emerging athletes with quality facilities that benefit the wider community, like this new clubhouse in Noffke Farm Park.”
A new carpark constructed under the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program complements the upgraded facility.
Noffke Farm Park will also receive a Council-funded lighting upgrade in coming months.
Lifestyle Chair and Division 6 Councillor Tony Hall added “this clubhouse has been a long time coming for the Waterford Demons and it’s great to see it come to life as the club settles into its new home.
“It’s been fantastic to see the positive impact it has already had on the rugby league club and broader community.”
The club moved into the new facility ahead of the start of the 2023 rugby league season.
